Once you've been accepted onto one of our study abroad programmes, you'll receive:
- an email confirming that you have been accepted onto the programme, and what you should do next
- payment information if applicable
- immigration paperwork or a CAS if applicable
- joining instructions, shortly before the start of the course
Your classes will be registered by the Study Abroad Office and we'll only be in touch about this if a problem arises.
You'll need to complete pre-enrolment online before you arrive at the University. Detailed instructions will be sent to you about this step nearer the time.
Semester dates
If you're only staying for the autumn semester and you need to be back in your home country by early January for university or an internship, you may be able to complete an alternative assessment instead of taking exams which occur in the last two weeks of January. Not all modules have an exam as the final assessment so an alternative may be unnecessary.
If you have completed pre-enrolment online and passed all the necessary checks (immigration, identity verification and finance), you will be issued with your student ID card during Welcome Week.
There will then be various orientation sessions for all semester students where you'll be provided with information about the services and facilities offered by the University and also general information about life in London, and guest speakers. This will be a good opportunity to meet other students.
We offer a half-day tour of London by coach and boat as part of our orientation and often international student parties are arranged. Making the most of your orientation week will set you up for the rest of your stay in London so make sure you don't miss anything!
Please note, if you are only staying for the autumn semester, you may be able to complete an alternative assessment (instead of taking exams, which occur at the end of January), enabling you to leave just before Christmas.
If you are staying for a whole year it is mandatory for you to complete the exams (if applicable) during the exam period in January. Spring semester students take exams in May. You should not plan to leave until you know your exam schedule, which is usually released six weeks before the examination period.
Module results are published in March for the autumn semester and late June for the spring semester. You will not be able to have your results before the official publication date. Once all results are confirmed we will send a transcript to you or your university.
