A group of graduates from The Cass, who took part in the successful Cass Starters project, will be exhibiting with SCP as part of the London Design Festival.
The Cass Starters project began early last year following a design brief from design manufacturer and retailer, SCP, to create simple, attractive products that were small enough to be shipped through regular post. The programme was initiated by four graduates from The Cass; Isabel Farchy, Nicholas Marschner, Ray Gonzalez Brown and Tim Summers, under the direction of 3D design studio leader and renowned designer, Peter Marigold.
A stand showcasing the products of the Cass Starters designers will feature at SCP during the London Design Festival 2017, 16-24th September. Customers will have the opportunity to purchase the products through SCP. Kickstarter has also sponsored the design and production of an exhibition booklet, which folds out into a celebratory poster and The Cass have helped to fund the creation of the stand for the exhibition.
Cass Starters, which was supported by Accelerator, London Met’s business incubator, included a series of individual Kickstarter campaigns launched collectively in October 2016. The graduates received assistance from the university to create promotional videos, develop websites and publicise the campaigns.
All four campaigns were successfully funded, and several of the products are now in full production. The Cass Starters used their creative energy, strong social networks and valuable advice to bypass the traditional routes available to design graduates.
Cass Starters will be exhibiting at SCP from 16 - 24th September - SCP Ltd, 135 -139 Curtain Rd, EC2A 3BX.
