We’ve all been deeply saddened by yesterday’s tragic news concerning the Air India Flight AI171 from Ahmedabad. Even if you have not been directly affected, it is completely natural to feel shaken, worried, or upset during a time like this.
Please remember you are part of the London Met community, and we care about your wellbeing. We want to remind you of the support that is always available to you for whatever challenge you’re facing:
For students
- Student Services: our caring team is here to listen, provide emotional and practical support, and help you navigate whatever you are going through. Whether you are dealing with anxiety, stress or just need someone to talk to, counselling is available in a confidential, non-judgmental setting. You can book sessions or access wellbeing resources via the Student Zone.
- TalkCampus: is a free, global peer-to-peer mental health network, available day and night. You can chat anonymously with fellow students at any time when you need empathy, understanding, or just someone to say "I’m here." It is completely free for London Met students and available on both app and desktop.
There are also groups outside of the University that offer support and community. The National Indian Students and Alumni Union UK (NISAU) is an organisation for Indian students, alumni and young professionals in the UK. You can connect with NISAU via their LinkedIn page.
For Staff
If you’re feeling distressed, overwhelmed, or not quite yourself, please let someone know. A simple conversation can make a big difference, and your line manager is often the best first point of contact.
We also have an Employee Assistance Programme (EAP) that offers confidential, around‑the‑clock support. Whether you need counselling, advice on personal or legal matters, or practical help managing stress, the EAP is available whenever you need it.
Whatever challenge you’re facing, there’s always someone to talk to or resources to support you.
