Academic entry requirements

Type of course

Qualification/grade

Three-year Undergraduate degree

One of the following award qualifications:

  • US high school diploma and transcript with a cumulative GPA of 2.8 and B in relevant subjects
  • GED with minimum score of 165 in each of four subject tests
  • If your high school GPA or GED scores fall slightly below, but you have completed at least one year (30 credits) at a US community college or university with a cumulative GPA of 2.7, this may be considered

Student applying with US high school qualifications must also submit one of the following (test-optional):

  • SAT: score of 1100 (550+ in both subjects)
  • ACT (American College Test): score of 25
  • Advanced Placement (AP) Tests: two passes with grade 3 and above in relevant subjects
  • Students who have not taken SAT/ACT/APs may be eligible for our USA Assessment Alternative.

Transfer Applicants: Students who have completed an associate’s degree at a community college or two years (60 credits) at a US university with a GPA of 2.7 in a relevant subject area may be considered for Advanced Entry to Year 2 (evaluated on a case-by-case basis).

Four-year degree including a foundation year

Students who fall slightly below the standard requirements may be considered for an appropriate foundation year degree programme.

One of the following award qualifications:

  • US high school diploma and transcript with a cumulative GPA of 2.0
  • GED with minimum score of 145 in each of four subject tests

Student applying with US high school qualifications must also submit one of the following (test-optional):

  • SAT: score of 900 (450+ in both subjects)
  • ACT (American College Test): score of 20
  • Advanced Placement (AP) Tests: two passes with grade 2 and above in relevant subjects
  • Students who have not taken SAT/ACT/APs may be eligible for our USA Assessment Alternative.

 

One-year Postgraduate degree


 
A US bachelor's degree with cumulative GPA of 2.7, with at least 30 credits from one specific subject area, and a relevant well written statement in support of the application that demonstrates the applicant’s suitability, interest and motivation.

Test scores are not required.

 

International Foundation Programme and Pre-Master's Programme

We offer pathway programmes for students who may require additional foundation coursework before applying for our bachelor’s and master’s courses.

English Applicants from the USA who are US citizens or students that have completed a bachelor’s degree in the USA are usually exempt from submitting English language requirements. SELT requirements apply to applicants that are not of majority English speaking nationality as defined by the UK Home Office, or those who do not possess a degree awarded, studied and conferred in a majority English speaking country. Mathematics (if applicable to your course) A pass in senior year / Year 12 Mathematics from US high school (3.0 GPA).

‌ENIC and accreditation

UK ENIC offers a variety of services on the comparability of qualifications from overseas. These services have been designed to help migrants coming to the UK to work or study and who are applying through the UK’s points based system for immigration. Providing your qualifications

Please be sure you're able to provide copies of official certificates of any qualifications you have taken when you make your application (please do not send us your original certificates). If any of your certificates or supporting documents (transcripts) are in a non-English language you will need to provide certified English translations alongside any official copies.
