Our vision

This compendium showcases and celebrates examples of inclusive practice in learning and teaching, and narrates the powerful story of the holistic approach London Met adopted when introducing the Education for Social Justice Framework (ESJF).

Education for Social Justice is the means through which the institution delivers its strategic vision foregrounding principles of equity and fairness embedded through curricula and practice, where we aim to acknowledge all aspects of an individual's identity, experience and background. This compendium is one of the tangible outputs and strongly reflects the commitment to addressing inequality and social justice as London Met's long standing mission.

This compendium of initially 10 case studies is one reflection of that. While celebrating good practice we hope that these examples may be both useful in practice and help to generate new ideas and refreshed approaches – at London Met and across the sector. We aim for this to be a dynamic process with further data on impact and additional case studies added over time.

By collating and curating these practice examples in this resource our ambition is to:

  • raise awareness of inclusive practice approaches in different teaching and learning contexts across the institution
  • promote sharing of ideas and praxis examples with colleagues within and outside of own subject areas and disciplines and giving visibility to their approaches
  • inspire new collaborations and to form partnerships across the institution
  • provide opportunities for colleagues to share and contribute their own case studies and ideas to develop it further
