Learning Technology

London Met uses Weblearn as the institutional VLE which is based on Blackboard Learn. It provides access to Blackboard tools, online assessment options and integrated learning technologies.

The learning technologies which are integrated with Weblearn are:

Blackboard Ally: the accessibility tool that will gauge the accessibility of content on Weblearn and assist in making content more accessible
Class Collaborate: the web conferencing tool available in all teaching modules. Note: Class Collaborate will be replaced with Microsoft Teams for 2024/25
Panopto: the video platform used for lecture recording, creating video content and video assessments
PebblePad: only available for specific practiced based courses
Reading Lists (Talis): the online reading list tool available in all teaching modules
Turnitin: online submission of word-based files


Other learning technologies which are available include:

LinkedIn Learning: video library of online courses including business, design, professional software packages, soft skills
Microsoft Teams: the web conferencing and collaboration tool, not currently available through Weblearn
Mentimeter: interactive presentation software including polls, word clouds, quizzes, multiple-choice questions and more
Padlet: an online post it wall used for sharing and collaboration

All currently scheduled online training sessions can be booked via the Eventbrite VLE Training page.

Induction Sessions for Weblearn (Blackboard):
Induction sessions are usually scheduled around the start of each teaching period. If there are no induction sessions scheduled, please contact Weblearn Support to arrange a session.

  • Logging a call via the IT Support Portal portal
  • Attending an Online Office Hour for Weblearn and online submission support
