By supporting staff in all areas at London Met in their professional development, the Centre for Teaching Enhancement (CTE)(opens in a new tab) plays a central role in advancing the University’s social mission of transforming lives through education. They highlight the importance of promoting an inclusive culture in enabling fair outcomes for our students. .

Their unique blend of expertise – ranging from academic skills development, digital education, and teaching and learning development, is steeped in a deep, long-held commitment to social justice and the empowerment of staff and students as agents of progressive change.

More information on the staff development opportunities we offer can be found on our CTE staff zone page (opens in a new tab)[staff login required].

MacNeill and Beetham (2022) provide this helpful definition:

"By learning design, we mean defining how learning will be supported within each module or unit: the activities, tools and technologies, core content, class sessions and group types, mode(s) of participation, assignments and assessments, and opportunities for interaction and feedback".

CTE colleagues can work with you to make the best use of digital learning technologies to develop learning activities which align with your formal module specifications and learning outcomes. We use a learning design process based on UCL's ABC approach, which involves us facilitating storyboarding workshops where we map out your teaching and learning activities. We recommend these workshops for course teams going through validation, revalidation or periodic review.
