Valerie joined the Board of Governors as an Independent Governor in August 2022 and is a member of the Audit and Risk Committee. Valerie has a Bachelor of Arts from Amherst College and a Juris Doctor Degree and Master of Laws in Taxation from the New York University School of Law. She joined the global asset management firm Orbis Investment Advisory Limited in 2007, and acts as the head of tax and transfer pricing for the group.
Valerie has also worked as an attorney in the US tax department at Linklaters in New York and London where she advised on a variety of mergers and other reorganisations of public and private multinational companies. In her 20+ years working as a corporate tax attorney, Valerie has had extensive exposure to regulatory authorities in a number of countries, including the UK and EU.
