Under freedom of information rules, I’d like to request the following information please:
- Has asbestos been reported on the university estate in 2019?
- Has asbestos been reported on the university estate in 2018?

Dear Mr..,
I write further to your request for information dated 11 March 2019. This request has been handled by the University in accordance with its duties and obligations under the Freedom of Information Act 2000 ("FOIA").
You requested details of:
· Has asbestos been reported on the university estate in 2019?
· Has asbestos been reported on the university estate in 2018?
In response to your request, we do not record the information in the way requested as you do not 'report asbestos.' We can confirm that we do have Asbestos containing materials within our Estate.
You are legally obliged to undertake a variety of actions including identifying where asbestos is within your buildings and creating a management plan to decide what you will do to manage the risk (risk assessment). We have an Asbestos Policy, approved in November 2018 and we have recently re-surveyed our estate, updated our registers and continue to review our management plan in light of any new findings or opportunities.
If you are not satisfied with the handling of your request, you may request an internal review. Internal review requests should be submitted within two months of the date of receipt of the response to your original letter by writing to:
