Get involved in the latest Youth Leadership Programme to help local communities and gain managerial skills.
There is a new Youth Leadership Programme starting at the end of February that is a great opportunity for everyone that wants to get involved in community charity work and gain managerial skills.
The programme is organised by Poplar Harca, a resident-led, East London Home and Regeneration Community Association. It is a charity that creates opportunities for social and private housing, helps the community, local businesses and personal development.
The Youth Leadership Programme will last five weeks and it is only for youths between 16 and 21 years old living in Tower Hamlets. It will include guest speakers, skills masterclasses and interactive learning, and this year’s focus is on housing.
Each week there will be workshops and training on the themes of leadership; power, influence and democracy; the social cost of regeneration and campaigning for affordable houses.
Participants can progress into roles on the Youth Empowerment Board at Poplar Harca. Previous members have been involved in the design and programme of the multi-million pounds youth art space Spotlight, located in Langdon Park, E14.
The programme will run every Wednesday at 6pm between 22 February and 22 March, and will finish with a celebration event on 29 March. It will take place at Spotlight, 30 Hay Currie Street, E14 6LN.
If you want to take place, you need to fill in a short online registration form by 14 February.
