How transferring to London Met works

Transferring from a US college to London Met gives you the opportunity to complete your degree in the UK within a vibrant, globally-focused community. We review your existing degree or credits, allowing eligible students to enter directly into Year 2 of a 3-year UK degree programme. Our articulation agreements with select US colleges provide a streamlined pathway for transfer. For students from other institutions, credits are evaluated individually to ensure the best possible placement.

Entry requirements

Students who have completed an associate’s degree at a US community college or two years (60 credits) at a US university with a GPA of 2.7 in a relevant subject area may be considered for Advanced Entry to Year 2 (evaluated on a case-by-case basis).

Key differences between US and UK university systems

• Course length: UK undergraduate degrees typically span 3 years, with transfer students usually entering in the second year.
• Specialisation: UK degrees are highly focused and do not include general education requirements, allowing you to specialise in your chosen field from the start.
• Grading system: The UK grading system differs from the US. Students receive classifications such as First, Upper Second (2:1), Lower Second (2:2), or Third.

Since there are no general education requirements, we focus on ensuring that your major-area credits meet or exceed our Year 1 curriculum.

What you’ll need to provide

To help us assess your application and credits, please submit:

• Application: Apply directly on our website via your course page. Under the question “Are you applying for advanced entry due to previously completed study at another university/higher education provider?” select "Yes".
• Academic Transcripts: US college transcripts showing completed courses and grades and future courses.
• Additional Requirements: Evidence of high school English and Math may be required. Non-US nationals from non-majority English-speaking countries may need to provide a Secure English Language Test.

• Scholarships and Financial Aid: London Met offers scholarships for US transfer students, including the USA Global Horizons Scholarship and the International Bright Futures Scholarship. Eligible students can also apply for US Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).
