MA Events Marketing Management students get a lesson in experience management, branding and relationship building.

Students on the MA Events Marketing Management programme visited the Country Living Christmas Fair at the Business Design Centre in Islington last week. The visit formed part of the modules Event & Live Media Industry and Events Marketing, led by Maggie Gold and Henrik Linden respectively.
The visit was followed by a session back at the Moorgate campus where students and tutors discussed the event in relation to theories concerning experience management, branding and relationship building.
One of the students, Sophie Artuso (pictured second from left), appreciated the opportunity and said: “It was very interesting to go out and get some field experience in order to use our knowledge in events marketing. The feedback about how to organise this kind of event was very enriching.”
Henrik Linden, a senior lecturer in creative industries, said: “It is important that we let students observe and analyse events so that they appreciate the connection between theory and practice. Our ideal location in London is of course very helpful in this respect.”
The director of Upper Street Events, Paul Byrom, will make a guest appearance in Maggie Gold’s class this week to share his knowledge about the planning and management of the event. Upper Street Events, who are the event organisers behind the Country Living Christmas Fair, enjoy a fruitful partnership with the MA and BA events courses at London Metropolitan University.
