London Metropolitan University is set to host the largest showcase of graduate talent in the capital this summer, with three exhibitions featuring work from over 1,500 students.
The ambitious season of creative events coincides with the formation of the new Sir John Cass Faculty of Art, Architecture and Design, which will launch on 1 August.
The new Faculty will bring together the Sir John Cass Faculty of Art, Media and Design and the Faculty of Architecture and Spatial Design, and students from both will be exhibiting in the shows.
Professor Robert Mull, Dean of the Faculty, said: “This year’s exhibitions begin to show the real potential of the new Faculty. We hope people can join us for one or all of the openings and get a first glimpse of the future.”
The programme kicks off on 13 June with an exhibition by students in the School of Art and the School of Media and Music Technology. Disciplines featured include animation, fine art, film, design, photography, sculpture and many more.
This will be followed by the School of Design exhibition at Central House from the 23 to the 30 June, presenting the best in graphic design, interior design, illustration, furniture, product and jewellery design and textiles.
Finally the ASD Exhibition from the 29 June to the 12 July will present the work of over 800 students in architecture, interior architecture and design.
The shows build on the cooperation already demonstrated by ASD and The Cass throughout the University’s award-winning Aldgate Project. Examples of work from the ambitious project, which is transforming parts of East London in time for the Olympic Games, will feature in the summer shows.
Reflecting the talent, creativity and ambition that abounds in London Metropolitan University’s creative departments, this summer’s exhibitions are not to be missed.
