London Met graduate nominated for BAFTA

Alumni Alex nominated for his short film Ballad of Olive Morris

London Met alumnus Alex Kayode-Kay has been nominated for a BAFTA for his short film The Ballad of Olive Morris, the British academy announced yesterday.

Alex graduated from London Met with a degree in  Film and Broadcast Production BA and is now working as an actor and filmmaker. Alex has been nominated for a BAFTA for one of his short films: “The Ballad of Olive Morris”

Alex has busy since graduating and previously, his TV pilot The Solution was nominated at the Edinburgh TV Festival for a New Voice Test Card Pilot award.

“I am delighted to receive this prestigious award. It was important to raise of this story which people don’t know enough about.” commented Alex. “I really appreciate the experience I had at London Met which gave me lots of skill and confidence to make my own in thew industry.”

Alex, was the producer of ‘The Ballad of Olive Morris’ which tells the largely untold story of a vibrant Black British political activist in his BAFTA nominated short , which depicts an inciting incident for the courageous woman who put herself on the line in the fight against police brutality and societal injustice.

The British Academy Film Awards, more commonly known as the BAFTA Film Awards is a highly prestigious annual award show hosted by the British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA) to honour the best British and international contributions to film.
