tempo 4/4 by Dr Piero Toto explores the limits of existence, the relationship with poetry and the impossibility of giving oneself to the Other.
Date: 1 February 2021
London Met lecturer Dr Piero Toto has published his first poetry collection, tempo 4/4.
Published in Italian by Transeuropa Edizioni, tempo 4/4 explores the limits of existence, the relationship with poetry and the impossibility of giving oneself to the Other. The 25 poems contained in this pamphlet touch upon the themes of identity and communication through a queer lens, paying homage to artists and poets (Derek Jarman, the Beat Generation), and most of all house music.
The verses in this collection try to make sense of today's existential and communicative chaos by relying on language and sounds to bridge the gap between the beauty of the universe and everyday life.
Dr Toto is a translation technology trainer, localisation lecturer, as well as an experienced English into Italian translator with a background in linguistics, gender issues/queer studies.
This eclectic mix of interests is at the heart of his academic research and activity, which include translations into Italian, published poetry in both English and Italian, articles on masculinity, queer studies and translator training.
The collection is available for purchase at Transeuropa Edizioni’s website.
