A passionate advocate for diversity and for improving outcomes for students, Professor Whitehead will lead the University’s academic activities.

London Metropolitan University is pleased to announce the appointment of Professor Donna Whitehead as its new Deputy Vice-Chancellor.
Professor Whitehead will lead the University’s academic activities, working closely with Vice-Chancellor, Professor Lynn Dobbs, to ensure London Met achieves and delivers on its emerging strategic plan.
Professor Dobbs said: “Donna has an outstanding track record of inspiring colleagues and students alike and will be a fantastic addition to the London Met community. Importantly, she shares our commitment to diversity and inclusion and has done fantastic work to narrow the attainment gap of Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic (BAME) students.”
As Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Professor Whitehead will engage with a wide range of stakeholders, both inside and outside the institution, and will work closely with academic leaders across the University, ensuring the ongoing success and development of the University’s teaching and research.
“I’m really excited about joining London Met,” Professor Whitehead said. “The mission and values of the institution very much resonate with me. I’m passionate about providing a transformational learning experience for all students and undertaking impactful activities that shape the future of the world. I’m looking forward to working together to enable our students and staff to do brilliant things!”
Professor Whitehead will join London Met on 12 August 2019.
