Date: 1.5.2014
Matilda Ibini, a 2012/13 graduate from the BA Creative Writing and English Literature degree at London Met, is a winning playwright in the BBC Writers Room 2014. Matilda will work with the BBC and Soho Theatre in a year-long development scheme. A reading of Matilda's play Muscovado by Burnt Out Theatre will take place on Saturday 17th May 2014, 6-7pm, at the Omnibus Theatre Clapham. Muscovado is set on a sugar plantation in Barbados in the early nineteenth century. It tells the interlinked stories of the Fairbranch family, both slaves and slave owners. The reading will be followed by a short Q&A/feedback session. This is a first chance to hear the play read aloud in full, ahead of a performance at the V&A on June 20th as part of the museum's Georgian season, and the full production at Clapham Holy Trinity Church in October.
