The Master's Show News from the School of Art, Architecture and Design

The dates have been announced for the School of Art, Architecture and Design's first on-site and in-person graduation exhibition since 2019.

The 2021 Master's Show at the School of Art, Architecture and Design, London Metropolitan University, marks the return of physical exhibitions on campus following the pandemic lockdowns.

The exhibition, which is the first on-site student showcase since 2019, will take place in the Calcutta House Annex on the Aldgate Campus from 13-18 September, including a private view event on 14 September from 5.30 to 8.00pm. This year’s show will include projects by students on MArch (RIBA Part 2), MFA Fine Arts, MA Interior Design, MA Furniture Design, MA Product Design, MA Public Art and Performance, MA Design for Cultural Commons courses at the school.   

Exhibitors include international students from countries including South Korea, the USA and Mexico who studied much of their course remotely due to the pandemic, sometimes setting their alarms to attend live lessons in the very early hours.

The Master's Show is the final exhibition in the School’s annual summer season of graduation work which has included the Theatre Arts Show, Echoes In Time, which was broadcast live from Shoreditch Town Hall in May and the Undergraduate exhibition on LIVENESS in June. 

Talking about the show, Head of School Anne Markey said, "I am delighted that we are able to support and celebrate our students by hosting a graduate show on site in Adgate this Autumn. Whilst our students and their tutors have embraced technology, and innovated on a variety of digital platforms over the past 18 months, the prospect of getting up close to their installations, models, screenings, prints and original artwork is truly exciting."

The Master's Show will be open to the public from 2pm on 13 September and will run until 18 September. Social distancing measures and sanitising facilities will be in place in line with University guidelines. The exhibition is free to attend but you must register in advance here so that visitor numbers can be managed
