Mariam Tarmahomed graduates today with a first-class degree in Early Childhood Studies, an incredible feat that she juggled alongside being a single mother to an eight-year-old child.
“It’s been challenging,” she said, “with no support at home. Managing everything, and coping with my studies was a huge struggle but now it’s an achievement!
“It feels surreal to be graduating. I cannot believe I have achieved this as a single mum. Passing every hurdle to achieve this first class honours degree has been so challenging, but so worth it. I’ve come out stronger.”
Asked about the best thing about studying at London Met, she continued, “Everything. The staff, the support we received, the inclusion, the students. The endless opportunities we have to become a better version of ourselves. I will miss it.”
And her advice for those currently studying? “Read! Regardless of what you study, read! It’s all the reading that helps you pass with flying colours. And it’s all so worth it.”
