Five researchers from the University feature in the top 2% most impactful academics globally, according to data from Elsevier and Stanford University.

Academics at London Metropolitan University have been ranked amongst the most highly-cited and impactful in the world.
The data was released by Elsevier and Stanford University, and shows which academics are referenced most frequently in the work of other scholars across the last year and throughout their career history.
The London Met academics featured in the list are:
- Louise Ryan, Senior Professor of Sociology and director of the Global Diversities and Inequalities Research Centre;
- Anil Kumar, Senior Lecturer in Operations, Supply Chain and Business Analytics in the Guildhall School of Business and Law;
- Jameel Inal, Professor of Immunobiology and founder of the Cellular and Molecular Immunology Research Centre;
- Giovanni Moneta, Senior Lecturer in Psychology, whose research explores flow, creativity, metacognition, performance and quantitative psychology;
- and Bal Virdee, Senior Professor and Director of the Centre for Communications Technology.
This recognition highlights the influence and profile of our academics, as well as the high regard in which they're held by their peers.
The Stanford ranking is based on the bibliometric information (citation metrics) contained in the Scopus database which includes more than 180,000 researchers.
