Sharing the latest scientific advances in data analytics and management.
Date: 15 June 2024
The 5th International Conference on Data Analytics and Management (ICDAM 2024) was held at London Metropolitan University on 14 and 15 June 2024. It was organized by Prof. Bal Virdee, Head of the Centre for Communications Technology at London Metropolitan University, in association with the Management Institute at Warsaw University, Politécnico de Portalegre in Portugal, Bhagwan Parshuram Institute of Technology in Delhi, India, and WSG University in Poland. Supported by Intel® oneAPI, this was the second time the conference was held in the UK. The event was a hybrid format, broadcast live on Zoom and YouTube.
Prof. Bal Virdee emphasized the critical role of data in today's world, stating: "The ability to analyse and manage vast amounts of data is crucial for decision-making in healthcare, finance, education, and manufacturing. Research in this area is vital for improving predictive analytics, optimizing operations, and enhancing customer experiences. The primary goal of this conference was to share the latest scientific advances, developments, and innovations in data analytics and management, and to provide delegates with networking opportunities for mutually beneficial research collaboration. Moreover, conferences like this enrich our culture and research environment."
Delegates from various countries, including India and Japan, attended the conference, representing both industry and academia. All papers presented will be published in a special issue of Springer's proceedings, indexed in Scopus. Authors can extend their papers for journal publication, which will undergo rigorous peer review.
The conference featured keynote talks from distinguished researchers:
- Prof. Liangxiu Han, Co-Director of the Centre for Advanced Computational Sciences and Deputy Director of the ManMet Crime and Well-Being Big Data Centre at Manchester Metropolitan University.
- Prof. Huseyin Seker, Associate Dean responsible for Research, Innovation, and Enterprise at Birmingham City University.
- Aninda Bose, Executive Editor at Springer.
- Dr Ravinder Singh Zandu, Head of the Digital and Systems Team at the UK Government's Cabinet Office.
- Dr Ahmed Elmesiry, a Reader in Cyber Security in the School of Computing and Digital Media at London Metropolitan University.
Chris Lane, Head of School of Computing and Digital Media commented that: "We are proud to be able to support the ICDAM conference and the partnership is one that we value immensely. The conference brings data analytics researchers together from across the world to share ideas and build networks. This is resulting in new opportunities for publication and new platforms for knowledge exchange with the start-up community and more widely with industry collaborators. We look forward to future conferences as the reach of our community expands further."
