Now in its 12th year, the conference provided a platform to discuss issues around machine learning, power grid stability and security around AI.
Date: 29 July 2024
Between 6 and 7 June 2024, AI and Data Science Research Group at London Met's School of Computing and Digital Media hosted the 12th International Conference on Frontiers of Intelligent Computing: Theory and Applications (FICTA 2024). The event provided a platform to discuss some thought-provoking ideas such as ‘how to do machine learning properly’, ‘challenges of power grid stability and sustainability’, and ‘security issues around AI’. Organised by Professor Preeti Patel, the conference assembled an international group of academics and industrialists to present, discuss, and debate the various intelligent technologies, their contemporary application, and their capacity to impact and address societal issues.
The keynote speeches were delivered by:
- Dr Jesús Requena Carrión, Faculty of Science and Engineering, Queen Mary University of London
- Clarke V Simmons, Managing Director and Founder, Neuville Grid Data Ltd.
- Professor Yonghong Peng, Professor of Artificial Intelligence, Anglia Ruskin University
Apart from the keynote speeches, this hybrid event saw over 200 peer-reviewed papers presented over the two days, with 55 attendees at the in-person event and further 150 people attending remotely. Coordinated by Dr Maitreyee Dey, the conference was supported by London Met masters and research students who were not only authoring and presenting papers but also supporting organisational aspects of the event.
