Announcing London Met's 2024 Big Idea Challenge Winners

Winners of London Met's Big Idea Challenge announced at 10th annual enterprise competition awards.

The winners of London Met’s 2024 Big Idea Challenge (Students and Graduates) were recently announced at a prestigious awards night held in The Great Hall on 19 April.

Run by the Student Enterprise team, the Big Idea Challenge is London Met’s annual enterprise competition, open to all entrepreneurially minded students and recent graduates with an idea for a new innovative business, socially-minded community or environment-focused project, or a creatively ingenious freelance endeavour.

A brand new International category was added to the competition this year, which gave students and graduates from our partner institutions the opportunity to enter and take part in the competition. The Student Enterprise team were blown away by the quality of great new and exciting ideas and initiatives entered into this year's competition, and we look forward to working with many of those who entered and took part in the 2024 Big Idea Challenge.

While reflecting on the competition and it’s impact, London Met’s new Senior Student Enterprise Manager Elecia Du-Bisette said, “The Big Idea Challenge showcases the spirit of entrepreneurship, highlighting the remarkable talent and drive of London Met’s changemakers and innovators, and their groundbreaking ideas to drive change."

Emphasizing the importance of the Big Idea Challenge, Elecia highlights how "the competition provides a fantastic opportunity for students and graduates to refine their business concepts, learn from fellow entrepreneurs, and enhance their entrepreneurial skills. Over the past 12 years, the Big Idea Challenge has sparked many entrepreneurial careers, and I was delighted to witness the continued diversity and ingenuity among the ideas and the entrepreneurs. I look forward to continuing to support these entrepreneurs in developing their ideas."

Since its launch in 2014, previous Big Idea Challenge winners and semi-finalists have gone on to launch businesses which have created hundreds of jobs and generated millions of pounds in profit. With cash prizes for each of the winners and continued support for all participants, the Student Enterprise team seek to help our students and graduates in continuing to develop and launch their business ideas.

Each year, London Met runs two separate competitions as part of its Big Idea Challenge, one aimed at the University's students and recent graduates, and one for local students at local schools and colleges. In both competitions, students with an idea for a new innovative business, a socially-minded community or environment-focused project, or a creatively ingenious freelance endeavour.
