London Metropolitan University’s flagship enterprise competition for current students and recent graduates of London Met enters the next stage.
Date: 21 March 2025
The Big Idea Challenge, launched in 2014 by our Enterprise team, is London Met’s annual flagship enterprise competition. The entries into this year's university competition were recently shortlisted down to 18 semi-finalists.
The standard of entries from our London Met students and graduates was really high once again this year, which gave our London Met Enterprise team their own challenge in shortlisting the 50+ ideas entered.
18 ideas were put through into this year’s Big Idea Challenge semi-finals after being shortlisted into three idea categories – Commercial, Community and Environment, and Creative.
All semi-finalists were invited to attend a bootcamp day on 14 March at our Holloway Road campus, where they were guided through the art of pitching. This included learning how to break down their idea into key areas, such as the problem and solution that their business addresses and provides, and how to trim down their wording to convey their idea in a 60 second pitch.
After a semi-final pitching day on 28 March, our 18 semi-finalists will be whittled down once more to our 12 London Met finalists. Just two weeks later, our finalists will pitch one final time to a panel of judges who will decide the winners of the university Big Idea Challenge.
Category winning ideas and an overall Grand Champion will be annouced at the Big Idea Challenge Awards on Wednesday 7 May.
