Hamid Zolghadrzadeh Jahromi

Dr Hamid Jahromi is the Head of Construction, Engineering and Management and a Principal Lecturer at the School of the Built Environment. Hamid is a Fellow of Higher Education Academy (FHEA) and Member of the Association for Project Management (MAPM).

Dr Hamid Jahromi is a senior academic with excellent experience in management, team development, design, delivery, validation, accreditation of a variety of fundamental and advanced courses in the field of built environment (including Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering and Construction Management).

Hamid specialises in Structural Engineering and Construction Management and has extensive experience in the field of built environment both as a practitioner and an academic. Prior to joining London Metropolitan University, he has held various teaching and research positions in other HE institutes in the UK such as University of Westminster, Kingston University and University of East London. He is currently actively involved in both teaching and research and the outcome of his research is published in international journals and conferences.

Hamid completed his PhD at Imperial College London in October 2009 in the field of Civil Engineering. In 2010, he was awarded the prestigious Unwin Postgraduate Medal for his PhD thesis (awarded each year to the best PhD thesis in Civil Engineering at Imperial College). He obtained his MSc degree in Structural Engineering with a mark of Distinction at Cardiff University in 2005. Hamid completed his BEng in Civil Engineering at Sharif University. Furthermore, he has completed a Post-Graduate Certificate in Learning and Teaching in Higher Education (PGCert – LTHE).

Dr Hamid Jahromi has experience in management, team development, design, delivery, validation, accreditation of a variety of fundamental and advanced courses in the field of built environment (including Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering and Construction Management).

His research interests are:

  • Structural analysis and design
  • Computational mechanics and nonlinear finite element analysis
  • Nonlinear soil-structure interaction
  • Sustainable construction technology
  • Sustainable concrete technology
  • Construction management, design management, integrated planning monitoring and control
  • Application of AI and data analytics in civil engineering design and construction

Dr Hamid Jahromi has significant experience in supervising research students both at PhD and MSc level.
