Bhabani is a political economist and works as Professor of Business Management. Before joining London Metropolitan University, he has worked at universities in Sussex, Glasgow, Manchester, York, and Coventry.
His research interests encompass four closely interrelated and mutually guiding programs, including political economy, business management, AI, and sustainable development. In addition to gender, the environment in South Asia, market, microfinance, religion, ethics, and social business, Faith, freedom, globalisation, and governance, Hindu religion and capitalism.
His research primarily focuses on the global south, with a regional emphasis on the impacts of neoliberalism on the social, cultural, and economic transition of indigenous and rural communities in South Asia.

Bhabani obtained his DPhil in Development Studies from the University of Sussex, UK. He holds memberships in several prestigious organisations, including SFHEA (Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy), FCMI (Fellow of the Chartered Management Institute), FRAS (Fellow of the Royal Asiatic Society), and FRSA (Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts), United Kingdom.
For the past twenty years, Bhabani has taught in various fields, including political economy, international business management, development studies, and public policy at a range of universities across the United Kingdom.
Bhabani has a strong interest in supervising PhD students in different areas, such as international business management, international development, development economics, economic policy, microfinance and social business.
