Karam Bhogal

Karam is Senior Lecturer in Education (Special Educational Needs and Disabilities) and Course Leader for Primary Education BA at the School of Social Sciences and Professions.

Karam is currently the course leader for Primary Education BA. His doctoral research was on promoting emotional wellbeing for children with autism and severe intellectual disabilities. Before entering academia, Karam worked for charities providing support to families with children with disabilities and held various positions in specialist schools, including assistant head teacher.

Karam teaches on Primary Education BA and Education BA. He also supports Primary PGCE students.

Karam's research is currently focused on the experiences of navigating the SEND systems of parents and carers who have a child with an EHCP.

Karam is Director of Practice Development for Nurturing Affective Care, a community interest company providing guidance around wellbeing for people with severe and profound intellectual disabilities.
