Kriya Kalidas is a Learning and Teaching Development Manager working alongside Jennifer Hayes in the Centre for Teaching Enhancement (CTE), supporting AAD, SCDM and GSBL. In this role she manages and contributes to nurturing academic innovation and effective practice and manages a range of programmes, workstreams and initiatives (including MET-CEP and ESJF) designed to improve teaching and learning practice, and to enhance student experience and outcomes. She brings expertise in her role through working in a number of roles at London Met including supporting on student recruitment and academic portfolio.
Prior to arriving at London Met, Kriya worked in the charity sector for 10 years largely supporting young people and vulnerable people through volunteering and training. Most notably she was Head of INSPIRE and Work Experience at Springbaord charity developing an exceptional quality standard work experience programme for young people seeking to gain work experience in the hospitality sector and headed up the volunteering programmes nationally at the homelessness charity Shelter.
She holds a BSc in International Economics from the University of Essex and recently completed her MA in Marketing at London Metropolitan University where she wrote her research study on Employer branding and the recruitment and retention of BME academic talent in HE. She also holds a Prince 2 Project management qualification.
Kriya is passionate about, and has experience in supporting people from difficult, vulnerable and diverse backgrounds and is committed to furthering this passion through teaching and learning.
