Course Leader of Architecture Technology and Senior Lecturer in the Built Environment.
Dr. Massey Nazarian is a Senior Lecturer in the School of the Built Environment and the Course Leader for the Architecture Technology course.
Massey is a qualified architect who completed her PhD at Loughborough University in 2014. Her thesis, titled “Nursing Staff Productivity: The Role of Layout and People Circulation,” has significantly influenced research and professional approaches to hospital design by optimising productivity-oriented circulation systems for medical staff.
Earlier in her career, Massey earned a Master’s degree in Architectural Engineering and Urban Design, as well as an undergraduate degree in Architecture from Iran University of Science and Technology (IUST). She later became a Research Assistant at the same university. Massey also worked as an architect in two private practices before being awarded a doctoral scholarship from the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (UK) in 2010.
Her first academic roles included serving as a University Teacher and Associate Researcher at Loughborough University, as well as a Guest Lecturer at IUST and an Assistant Professor at Shahab Danesh University (ShDU). Prior to joining London Metropolitan University, Massey worked as a Senior Lecturer in the Civil Engineering and Construction Management Departments at Nottingham Trent University, where her teaching and research primarily focused on BIM, Sustainable Construction, and Low Carbon Future Home Design.
