Mona has pursued her PhD in Computer Science, from School of Computing, National University of Singapore (NUS); MSc in Communication and Information Technology and BSc in Computer Science in Egypt.

Previous Experience:

Mona’s working experience has been in higher education (HE); combining teaching and research job positions. Before she joined London Metropolitan University as a Lecturer, she worked as Teaching Assistant/Assistant Lecturer in Egypt and the National University of Singapore. Mona has the pleasure to teach many courses such as Programming Language (C, C++, OOP, etc.), Data Structures, Digital Image Processing, Human Computer Interaction, Data Structures and Algorithms, Software Engineering, Logic Design, Artificial Intelligence, Data Communication, Building a Video Streaming System with DASH. She has received the Associate Fellow (AFHEA) recognition from AdvancedHE in UK.

On research,

Mona worked as Research Assistant at different periods in: the Center for Informatics Science, Nile University, Egypt; both departments of Computer Science and Information Systems and Analytics, NUS, Singapore; the department of Visual Computing, Institute for Infocomm Research (I2R), Agency for Science, Technology And Research (A*STAR), Singapore; and as Research Associate in the Vision, Graphics and Learning (VGL) research group in Computer Science department, University of York, UK. Her research focus has been on Computer Vision, Machine Learning (ML), Digital image Processing and Deep Learning fields. She has worked in multi&inter-disciplinary projects combining these fields with other-fields such as Medical Imaging, Psychology, Cognitive-Science and Cyber Security to create applications. She has several publications in top-ranked venues on Image/Video Processing for segmentation, tracking and classification problems using biometrics such as person/object detection, recognition, expression/emotion recognition.
