Brazilian Human Resource Management MA student Fellipe discusses his decision to move to the UK with his family to pursue his postgraduate studies at London Met.
Why did you decide to study at London Met?
I had to do a lot of research before deciding where to study. I was looking for a master’s degree that could satisfy my interest in getting a deep understanding of leadership and motivation. London Met had the perfect subject areas and modules related to this field and, because of this, my choice was to study here.
Why did you want to study in London?
I knew that experiencing life in another country would contribute to my personal and professional growth – and I was also attracted by the career progression opportunities and the quality of the course itself.
How did you find the experience of moving to another country?
For me, moving to another country wasn’t an adventure. It had to be planned carefully and seriously because I was moving here as a mature student with my family. It was a dream that became reality.
What has been your favourite part of the course?
So far, I’m finding that the Employee Engagement module has turned out to be the area that I’d like to specialise in. However, subjects such as Equality and Diversity have also caught my attention – they highlight the social problems that are reflected in the workplace. This course is enhancing my critical thinking and has given me the chance to look at the world from a different perspective.
What do you hope to do after graduation?
I want to work as an employee engagement manager and put into practice what I have been learning at London Met. When I graduate, I’d be very interested in investing more time in my specialist area – and undertaking a PhD is one of my plans. I’d like to stay at London Met for my PhD too.
What would you say to an international student considering a degree with London Met?
It’s an amazing experience to take your degree overseas. Apart from the study, you’ll be in touch with another culture and you’ll have the opportunity to boost your intellectual capacity. In the beginning things aren’t easy because we have to adapt to the learning process. However, the support we have from tutors is incredible. The lectures are designed to deliver knowledge and up-to-date information according to the reality of the marketplace. I strongly recommend London Met for postgraduate study.
