Tell us a little bit about yourself

Hello, my name is Hannah, and I’m from Germany, where I completed my Bachelor's degree in Nutrition and Food Supply Management. I grew up in the countryside, on my family’s farm, surrounded by nature, animals, and my siblings. This upbringing instilled in me a deep appreciation for sustainability, wholesome food, and a strong sense of community. In my free time, I love exploring new places through backpacking and traveling, meeting friends, camping under the stars, and staying active at the gym. I’m also an avid reader and enjoy unwinding with a good book or movie.

What brought you to London Met?

When I decided to study abroad, I wanted to find a university that truly supports international students. London Met stood out with its rich diversity and a dedicated support team that made me feel welcome from the start. Studying here not only gave me the chance to further my education but also to experience life in one of the most vibrant and multicultural cities in the world.

What does studying at London Met mean to you?

For me, studying at London Met is a dream come true. Coming from a rural background, moving to such a dynamic city was something I had always wanted to experience. London’s energy, its endless opportunities, and its melting pot of cultures have broadened my perspective and shaped me both academically and personally.

What is your biggest passion in life and where did that passion come from?

My biggest passion in life is making a positive impact on people’s lives. There are so many ways to do this, and my journey started with voluntary work at a Red Cross organization. As I gained more knowledge, I trained as an EMT and worked alongside my studies. Being in close contact with patients, witnessing their struggles, and helping them through difficult moments made me realize just how crucial good health is. My goal is to contribute to the well-being of others through knowledge, research, and hands-on support, ensuring that people can maintain or regain their quality of life.

What drives you?

I am driven by the belief that people have so much more potential than they sometimes realise. Often, they just need the right guidance, support, and knowledge to help them move forward. Seeing someone grow, heal, or discover their own strength is one of the most rewarding feelings in the world.

Tell us a little bit about your interests outside of uni and why they are important to you.

My interests are quite diverse, but above all, I value spending time with friends and family. Good company makes any experience enjoyable, whether it’s hiking in nature, traveling to new places, or simply sharing a meal. I have a deep love for adventure—camping, exploring new cultures, and trying different cuisines are some of my favorite things to do. Volunteering has also been a significant part of my life, as giving back to the community brings me a sense of fulfillment. On quieter days, I enjoy reading, going to the gym, or watching a good movie.

What’s next in your career?

Right now, I’m keeping my options open. I have several ideas for my future, but I’m giving myself the time and space to explore what truly aligns with my passions. With the strong academic foundation I’m building at London Met, I feel confident that I’ll find the right path when the time comes.

Do you have any advice for anyone else considering studying at London Met?

If you’re thinking about it—just go for it! Stepping out of your comfort zone can be intimidating, but it’s also the key to incredible personal growth. London Met is a welcoming and diverse environment where you’ll meet inspiring people and gain experiences that will stay with you for a lifetime.

What’s your favourite piece of Uni equipment or your favourite space at London Met and why?

Definitely the library—especially the group study section. There’s something incredibly motivating about being surrounded by people who are all working hard towards their goals. The atmosphere is both productive and inspiring.

If you could sum up your experience at London Met in one word, what would it be?

Exciting.

I was pleasantly surprised by how supportive and inclusive the university is. From the professors to the students, everyone is approachable and eager to help, making it a fantastic environment for learning and personal growth.

How has Covid affected your study / work / life?

Covid made me appreciate social interactions, freedom, and health more than ever before. It also showed me how much I value collaboration and in-person connections with colleagues and fellow students. The experience reinforced my passion for helping others and reminded me of the importance of resilience and adaptability.
