Working across the pandemic lockdown via online workshops with schools, residents and community groups, Textiles BA students designed a series of banners that have now been installed on Wentworth Street lampposts.
The project represented more than just the result, it was about an ownership of the local spaces and a statement of existing and thriving despite the pandemic.
Students participated in group sessions online with school children and elder groups, and evening online sessions introducing the project to interested stakeholders. Course Leader James Hunting presented the designs as part of the Aldgate in Winter 2020 programme, and the final selection of sixteen was made by over 500 public votes.
