A lecture by Eleni Katrini.
Towards the Collective City is a lecture by Eleni Katrini, presented by the Design for Cultural Commons MA at The Cass, led by Torange Khonsari.
Eleni Katrini is an architect and researcher, based in London, Pittsburgh, and Athens. Her research focuses on the fields of commons, sharing, and urban ecology. Eleni has taught at the School of Architecture at Carnegie Mellon University, and worked extensively in participatory projects in US and UK. She co-founded the Vacant Home Tour, a programme re-envisioning blight by building on a neighborhood's social capital, and she curated the international conference AUTONOMA; Towards the Collective City.
Eleni will present insights from her doctoral research Creating the Everyday Commons: Spatial Patterns of Sharing Culture. By combining knowledge from historical cases, as well as empirical knowledge from a series of contemporary case studies in London and Athens, her doctoral research sets out to examine the relationship between space and sharing culture and identify critical spatial patterns.
