SMS Arquitectos was founded in 2003 by Aina Salva and Alberto Sanchez.
SMS Arquitectos was founded in 2003 by Aina Salva and Alberto Sanchez. The practice has developed a systematic approach towards construction and manufacturing. Projects range from civic and residential buildings where focusing on user participation and rooted in local contexts.
Projects include Plywoodhouse (FAD 2011 architecture awards shortlisted) and Josep Sureda i Blanes “Secondary school extension” (FAD 2011 and ENOR architecture awards shortlisted) and Badies health centre (shortlisted 2009 AR Awards for Emerging Architecture). SMS Arquitectos were included in the selection of The Catalan Pavillion of the Venice architecture Biennale in 2012.
Aina Salvà Tejedor, studied at the University of North London (The Cass) and at ESARQ in Barcelona where she graduated in 2002. She is a member of “Colegio de Arquitectos de Baleares, COAIB”.
Alberto Sánchez López studied architecture at the University of North London where he graduated in 1999. He obtained “reconocimiento de título de arquitecto superior” by the Ministerio de Educación y Ciencia in the year 2001. He is also a member of “Colegio de Arquitectos de Baleares, COAIB”.
The lecture by Alberto Sanchez is part of the Form-Givers Lecture Series at The Cass, organised by senior lecturer James Payne.
The lecture series is about young practices throughout Europe – confident and inventive Form-Givers who are delivering their first projects. Lecturers will discuss architectural language and form in their practice, research or teaching.
The talks are free and open to the public!
