About this event
This event, marked the launch of Nonsuch, a book of essays, photographs, drawings and student projects relating to the work of Unit 14 at London Met's School of Architecture 2015/16. This collective work addresses the Elizabethan courtier house, Soviet architecture as well as student projects reimagining big buildings in London’s suburbia. The essays and research draw on the 'social condenser' and its origins in Soviet projects such as the Narkomfin, and the application of these ideas in our understanding of the Tudor Palace, as well as other big buildings such as the palace of Versailles. The research also addresses construction, environment and the relationship between object, space and representation in Elizabethan and Soviet architecture. The launch will take place as a series of short talks from contributors to the book with an open discussion after. The book will be available to pre order at the event.
