About the Event
Jointly hosted by CREATURE and CUBE, this live workshop-style event considered the challenges and benefits of planning your research. We demonstrated the relevance of LondonMet’s Research Plan (RP) process, offering advice on how to use it as a tool to optimise your publication strategy, your scholarly profile, and your research projects.
As the first in the 2024-25 edition of the AAD Research Forum series, this in-person event had two main objectives. The first was to walk-through the updated RP template and provide guidance on completing it in a way that supports your development as a researcher, while also meeting the coordination needs of the institution. The updating of the RP is part of a wider rationalisation of research management in which a more direct connection between research activity, objective-setting and productivity is being adopted across the university.
And the second was to explore the value, functionality, and potential of the RP as a vehicle for enriching your research outlook. A good plan will have a sense of orientation regarding your scholarly interests and career ambitions. It should help you to maintain an overview of your pathway in regard to your publication strategy, current and future projects, and your profile including honorary roles, civic or community engagement, practice accomplishments and esteem-garnering activities.
We hope that this event contributed to informing the activities of the members of CREATURE and CUBE, our main research centres at the School of Art, Architecture, and Design, and our forthcoming submission to REF2029 in Unit of Assessment (UoA) 32.
The Research Forum series supports our engagement through the School and University groups and initiatives that make up our collective research landscape. All members of CREATURE and CUBE, as well as any other research-active and interested staff at AAD were advised to attend; colleagues from other schools, especially collaborating project team members or those in cognate disciplines, are also welcome.
