Show Me Project

Personalisation and evaluation of discrimination software for brain development of special needs children in the UK

This study aims to include around ten children in Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) schools in the UK, deploying touchscreen technology and apps as the basis for repeatable daily learning exercises and using EEG (electroencephalogram) brain scanning to directly measure progress and outcomes. The outcome of the research is to develop a framework of repeatable educational activities using commonly available touchscreens and apps throughout the study and measure the development of new brain connections.

The study learning exercises will involve discrimination between two or more objects with simple selection options and will be personalised for each participant. The aim is to incorporate touchscreen app-based learning activities as part of the studies, depending upon the cohorts and school resources, to align with the Show Me Pioneer Programme activities. The project team consist of but is not limited to the members of John Roberts, Dr Sandra Fernando, Professor Bal Virdee, and Dion Mariyanayagam.
