Funding
- Jo Lovett and Liz Kelly: £50k submitted – Her Majesty's Inspectorate of Constabulary and Fire and Rescue Services (HMICFRS) in collaboration with University of Durham, who would be the grant holders. This is to interview rape survivors about their experiences of the criminal justice system.
- Liz Kelly written into a bid to the Oak Foundation by Surviving Economic Abuse as research consultant.
- Dr Maria Garner in collaboration with Dr Fiona Vera-Gray from University of Durham – a small grant (£5k) to produce an edited collection on the emotional labour of researching violence against women and co-reflexivity.
We tend to be approached directly, or via more open calls, by non-governmental organisations (NGOs) and national and local government to bid. We make decisions as to which to respond to on the basis of our areas of expertise and the strategic importance of the work. This has sustained us for the last five years, but such opportunities are not predictable, especially in the current context.
