The Health and Behaviour Research Centre is an interdisciplinary centre, with a special focus on physical and mental health of individuals and population groups, and a focus on human behaviour in general and its underlying processes.
We employ a wide range of research methodologies, from neuroscientific tools to study neural and cognitive functions to the understanding of behaviour and how to change it. We have extensive experience of engagement with local authorities, NHS, and non-statutory health agencies across a number of settings.
The Centre aims to deliver high-quality research and education to inform and support the needs of various stakeholders, including the health system, policy makers, communities and voluntary sector organisations. Our team’s areas of expertise include public health, health service research, cognitive neuroscience, social psychology, forensic psychology and sport psychology.
Much of our work is done in collaboration with other Universities and institutes across the UK and internationally. We conduct applied research, knowledge exchange, evaluation, and policy consultancy on individual and population level, addressing societal challenges through public and stakeholders’ engagement.
We welcome applications for full-time or part-time MPhil/PhD research degrees and are happy to discuss research proposals from prospective doctoral students.
The Health and Behaviour Research Centre was previously known as the Centre for Primary Health and Social Care.
