This studio will focus on bold, experimental, traditional and non-traditional approaches to textile design, both in homeware & fashion. Working across constructed textile disciplines of knit, weave & stitch, you will normally specialise in one or two during the year.

The studio philosophy champions both originality and innovation. It aims to maximise creativity and intellectual potential by nurturing and developing your individual strengths and design philosophy. You will be encouraged to cross-pollinate disciplines that best reflect your own creative approach.

With the use of a wide-range of LIVE projects (set by high profile individuals & established brands within industry), you will gain confidence to achieve exciting and demanding creative practice, in both ambition & reach.

Within your chosen route, we will cover in-depth creative & market research (both primary & secondary), the 'design and make' process, design context, sustainability, textile trends and creative presentation.

Led by practicing professionals with a highly creative edge, the studio offers complementary workshops in the application of alternative surface treatments and skills, constructive techniques in both hand and machine, and key knowledge of industry technology.

It is paramount to establish a keen understanding of industry and to generate a network of key contacts. The studio team will offer you the opportunity to:

• visit relevant industry trade shows
• get involved with important cultural/fashion events within London
• develop informed industry introductions
• contribute to Q&As and lectures from inspirational professionals from both the creative & manufacturing sides of the fashion and home ware textile industries.

We encourage the building of a personal creative identity and an individual aesthetic vocabulary, informed by historical, cultural and technical knowledge, and by the practical experience of creating unique and original textiles.
